The American Society of Hematology (ASH) has launched a free interactive Clinical Trial Map designed to guide researchers through every stage of clinical trial development, from initial concept through data dissemination. The tool, reported in the April 2026 issue of ASH Clinical News, offers videos, white papers, and visual resources organized across three phases: design and planning, conduct and operations, and analysis and dissemination.
For managed care professionals, the resource addresses a persistent challenge: the pace and quality of clinical evidence generation for hematologic therapies directly affects coverage and formulary decisions. As novel treatments such as CAR-T cell therapies and bispecific antibodies carry substantial per-patient costs, payers rely on well-designed trials with representative populations to make sound utilization management and reimbursement decisions. Tools that help investigators avoid protocol deficiencies, regulatory delays, and recruitment shortfalls can accelerate the availability of the evidence base that health plans need. ASH has also highlighted a companion resource, the Toolkit for Clinical Trial Sponsors, which focuses specifically on expanding access and improving demographic representation in hematologic trials. The toolkit provides actionable recommendations from national and international regulatory bodies to help sponsors design studies whose findings are more broadly applicable to the real-world patient populations served by managed care organizations. That focus on generalizability is particularly relevant for payers evaluating the external validity of pivotal trial data when setting coverage criteria.
